January Favourites 2014 ♡

Hey everybody,

So I've decided not to set a particular schedule for when I post on my blog yet so for the time being I'm just going to post whenever I feel like posting and to be perfectly honest I really want to post daily but I know I'd run out of things to post about so quickly as the concept of an academic life is not remotely exciting to read about on a day to day basis... (Hi today I went to school, I learnt some stuff, ate a sandwich and stuff then spoke to my friends at lunch, then I went home and ate dinner, bye...)

So January is over and I thought I should go ahead and write out my monthly favourites for this past month, this isn't intended to be a long introduction because this post is going to be oooooober long, so without further or do, lets get started!

Firstly, this year I have been absolutely loving the 'Collection Lasting Perfection' concealer, most British, female, beauty Youtubers rant about the amazingness of this at some stage or another and after seeing it mentioned in countless videos I thought I'd try it out as it's a drugstore product and it's price is brilliant! (£4.19) Because of the highly affordable price I was sceptical about how well it'd work originally but when I tried it out I loved it, it's a higher coverage concealer which works well on blemishes and dark under-eye circles really well, some people compare this to MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer however I've never owned the MAC concealer so I couldn't honestly agree. Also I'd never really owned many concealers before I purchased this one, I'd only ever had the Rimmle Wake Me Up Concealer which I was dissatisfied with as it's coverage was not all I expected it to be and for the price I felt it wasn't worth is when you could have something five times better for nearly half the price!  Overall however, I'd really recommend this concealer to anyone as it's super good quality and lasts a fairly long while, also it's super affordable!

Another thing I've been loving throughout January is Fudge's 'Urban Iced Raspberry & Vanilla' hairspray. This hairspray is my favourite ever hairspray because although I personally don't think it smells like Iced Raspberries or Vanilla, it smells so good and I know some people don't like the smell but it's a matter of opinions, I think it smells fab... Another reason I've been loving this hairspray is because it has a really good hold time, I use it for setting my fringe into place everyday and if I curl or straighten my hair I'll put some of this onto it to prolong hold time. Also this isn't the typical hairspray that makes your hair all sticky and gross and possibly my favourite part about this hairspray is that it's soft touch which is what I mainly look for in a hairspray because I hate it when your hair looks all disgusting and crispy and to be honest it's rare you find a hairspray you like that is both soft touch and firm hold which is another reason I love this hairspray.

I don't really like wearing heavy make up and I have been experimenting with different foundations over 2013 to find my favourites and in January I found 2 I really like. The first is Maybelline's 'Dream Fresh BB Cream' which I really like because it's not really high coverage, it isn't shiny and it also isn't sticky. This BB Cream is oil free which is good, also it's very easy to blend, it's quite a silky feeling liquid which makes it smooth looking , it blurs blemishes and it is also it isn't remotely cakey which is brill! Also I've been really liking using Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse when I feel like going for a slightly higher coverage and I really like this foundation because it feels nice when applying and it doesn't feel cakey or heavy on my skin, when I do wear this I don't use a brush to blend it because I personally prefer to use my fingers although I don't like it when it's just on my fingertips once I have finished applying it because I never really know what to do with myself then...

Recently I've begun to wear perfume a lot more and my current favourite perfume is Hope Cove from Jack Wills. (I actually bought this for my mum but she then bought one for herself the same so I got to keep this one!) I don't know how to describe this perfume's scent but it smells a bit like apple and cassis but it also smells faintly of vanilla and amber too. Reading back on that it makes it smell horrible but describing smells isn't easy for me, to be honest if you want to go smell it then you should because I really can't describe it...

I have never owned a nude pallet before and a few months ago I went out and purchased Sleek's Au Naturel pallet (601) because I've really wanted it for a while, like I said I bought this a few months ago and I only started properly using it through January. In this pallet there is a white, a grey ish brown tone, about 3 champagne colours that get darker, a couple of glittery brown colours and there are also some dark browns and a black in there too, some of the colours are really good for doing smoky eyes and I'd really recommend this pallet because I really like it!

I've always loved the Body Shop products and I recently invested in a couple of their body mists, I must admit I think they're a bit over priced, at around £12 each although I actually got the right hand side spray in the sale for about £3 which I was really happy about because that's literally a quarter of the normal price! I have just the two sprays in this photograph, the one on the right is mango and smells amazing and then the one on the left is supposed to smell of Brazil nuts but smells like some kind of chocolate to me and most other people, it's really nice though although it is really quite a sweet scent which I do find sickly in large quantities...

So for Christmas I  got some GHD's from my parents, these are the GHD Eclipse and they are honestly the most amazing straighteners I have ever owned, they are the only ones strong enough to actually straighten my hair (for some reason most straighteners don't work on my hair, don't know why..?) and to be honest I love all the little noises they make like when you turn them on, when they're ready to be used and when you turn them off. Also I like that they steam when you use them because I've never had any that did that before and for some reason I find is super satisfying... I must say that overall these are really amazing straighteners and although yes, they are a lot of money, they are totally worth it!

Finally the last thing I've been loving throughout January is this Soap and Glory hand cream, this doesn't have the typical Soap and Glory scent, it is, in my opinion, much nicer than the normal one as it has of pomegranate, Shea butter, macadamia and grapeseed oils in it although I don't think it particularly smells of any of these, once again I have no idea how to describe this scent, I just think it is really nice and feels so velvety on my hands, it suggests you could put this on before you go to sleep at night and then wear cotton gloves over the top whilst you are sleeping, I really like to do this because in the morning my hands feel super nice and soft and smell so nice too! Basically this is my favourite hand cream ever and for how amazing it is I have no problem with spending £6.50 for it and I'd recommend this to everyone!

Thank You ♡
